About Clare

Care isn't just my career — it has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.

I come from a family of nurses and grew up surrounded by people working in healthcare. My mum worked in intensive care and assertive outreach, my aunts worked in district nursing and recovery, and my sister became a children's nurse.

About Clare

My own career in health and social care began when I was just 15. I started as a kitchen assistant and went on to work as a cleaner, carer, support worker and senior support worker before completing my nurse training. While studying, I supported myself by working several jobs, including agency care work in hospitals.

I know what it is like to work on the floor as a carer, to take responsibility as a nurse, to lead staff and services as a manager, and now to support organisations as a trainer and consultant.

I understand care from the ground up.

Experience Behind the Training

I qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 2004 and have now spent 22 years working as a qualified nurse across a broad range of adult health and social care settings, with particular experience in complex care, dementia, learning disabilities and mental health.

My career has included senior nursing, Clinical Lead and Ward Manager roles, giving me extensive experience of hands-on clinical practice, staff management, leadership, governance, quality improvement and supporting services through change.

I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care and a Level 3 Award in Education and Training, alongside specialist trainer and safeguarding qualifications.

I established Clare's Care Healthcare Training in 2014 and now work with care homes, nursing homes, learning disability services and specialist care providers, supporting carers, nurses, managers and directors through practical training, consultancy, governance, compliance and quality improvement.

With more than 30 years' experience in health and social care and around 17 years' experience as a trainer, the knowledge I bring to CCHT comes from both professional education and many years of working directly within services.

Why It Matters to Me

Health and social care is more than a profession to me — it is something I genuinely care about.

My own experiences of needing healthcare and support have given me a greater understanding of what it feels like to be on the other side of care. They have strengthened my belief in compassionate, person-centred care where people are listened to, respected and treated as individuals.

Supporting my own grandmother through her journey with dementia has made this even more personal. Being a family member and trusting other people to care for someone you love reinforces just how much the quality of a care service matters — not only to the person receiving care, but to everyone around them.

These different experiences mean I understand care from several perspectives: as a carer, nurse, manager, trainer and consultant, as someone who has needed healthcare myself, and as a family member.

That is why I don't believe training should simply complete a mandatory requirement or tick a box on a training matrix.

I genuinely love what I do. Working with care homes, nursing homes and specialist services gives me the opportunity to support staff to develop their knowledge and confidence, help managers strengthen their services and, ultimately, contribute to better experiences and outcomes for the people they support.

That's what CCHT is about.

Good training should make a difference to what happens when someone needs care.
